Who We Are
Eugene Backyard Farmer is a favorite among backyard farmers in the Willamette Valley. A locally owned family business, we stock our feed store and plant nursery with everything you may need for your backyard farm and garden.
Chickens, Ducklings and other Small Farm Animals: We sell the best feed for your backyard animals, featuring a broad selection of non-GMO and organic products. In the spring and summer, our chick room is filled with interesting breeds to add to your flock or start one. We have loads of supplies to keep your animals healthy and happy.
Gardens: We sell locally grown plants and seeds, including organic veggie and herb starts. We have organic and conventional soil mixes, amendments, fertilizers and more for your vegetable, pollinator and flower gardens, plus a variety of tools and other supplies to keep you growing year-round.
Bees: In early spring we offer mason bees to begin pollinating early bloomers and a few weeks later top quality bee packages arrive for local beekeepers. Our Warré hives are built by a local craftsman. We offer supplies to help you get started and keep your bee colonies thriving.
And more: Books to learn and inspire, hats and gloves, raised beds, composters, rain barrels, straw and hay, to name a few.
Come by our store and meet us – whether you are a seasoned backyard farmer or just getting started, we love to help and inspire!
Our History
In 2010, Eugene Backyard Farmer opened in a vacant auto garage in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood with a strong vision and little more than a handful of chicks and some straw bales. With the help of an amazing community, the store became a valuable resource for backyard farming. Today, the store serves the needs of local backyard farmers in a way that traditional feed stores and garden centers do not, with a focus on products that are organic and non-GMO, as well as those made or grown by local and Oregon-based businesses.
Our Commitment
Eugene Backyard Farmer is organically inclined and community focused. It is grounded in our family values of sustainability for community and environment. We have a deep respect for our customers, our suppliers, our employees and the environment. We support simple, sustainable, and self-reliant practices that benefit the local communities of Lane County and our planet. We compensate our employees with a living wage and paid time off. We know that our success depends on how well we meet this commitment.
